Immediate need for senior public health professionals to participate in planning and leading projects related to cancer research and cancer disparities research portfolios for integrated research, training and outreach network programs. Incumbent will perform Health Science Administrator responsibilities that require expertise in applied research, especially in areas of epidemiology, behavioral sciences, evaluation, and/or community-based education and outreach. Familiarity with NIH extramural funding is a plus, and outstanding oral and written communications skills are a must.
Provide technical and logistical guidance, to cancer health disparities researchers.
Keep clients apprised of progress made on projects, including contributing extramural education/outreach, research and research training network efforts, and identification of research areas in terms of funding emphasis.
Conduct portfolio related tasks, such as working with program directors and stakeholders to identify evaluation goals/objectives, review literature to aid in portfolio analysis, and contribute to data collection and analysis of programmatic progress reports.
Prepare assessments of grantee progress to include summarizing outcome findings, and generating recommendations and specific programmatic reports from programmatic documents and databases.
Support site visits to institutions to determine adequacy of research, training and education/outreach facilities and activities.
Assist with organizing and managing programmatic meetings and peer-review groups to assess research proposals for scientific merit.
PhD preferred and 5-10 years related experience.
Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques of administrating public health programs to advise community cancer centers and/or academic institutions on cancer programs.
Ability to develop and evaluate information dissemination programs for vulnerable populations.
Ability to plan and implement public health programs in the field of cancer disparity research.
Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of people; particularly researchers.
Ability to communicate (oral and written) on cancer health disparities research.

Specialized experience desired:
Provide technical assistance on scientific concepts and methods related to cancer-related disparities and community-based participatory research; provide technical and scientific expertise in areas focused on cancer health disparities.
Assist with establishing partnerships to increase activities in reducing cancer health disparities; prepare highly technical scientific correspondence, reports, policies, and other written material; prepare and collaborate In preparing reports, articles, and other complex written documents for publication in the professional literature and/or presentation at professional meetings.
