Research Subject Recruitment, Screening, Evaluation, Discharge, and Follow-Up Services for the NIDA Intramural Research Program (IRP)
Since 1991, NOVA has provided clinical research support services to NIDA's IRP. These support services begin with developing and implementing various media advertising strategies targeted to potential research clients. The services continue with conducting telephone screening to determine initial eligibility, and conducting extensive on-site screening including biomedical and psychosocial tests to determine eligibility to meet complex eligibility criteria. NOVA's licensed counseling staff also participate in counseling components of both inpatient and outpatient research protocols. At conclusion of the IRP investigator's research, NOVA staff work with participating patients to conduct discharge planning for additional referral services. NOVA staff maintain secure medical records and computer patient-related files for all IRP research subjects.
